Re: One Fire Brings a Lifetime of Love

As Miranda was standing in front of a waiting room full of firefighters, she watched Dean make his way up to her. Once he was standing in front of her, she looked up into Dean's eyes and saw a mixture of fear and worry. She then noticed that Dean was about to say something and she quickly held up her hand to stop him. Normally, she wouldn't do that, but she already knew what was coming, even before she could speak. Miranda didn't say anything right off, she was waiting for everyone to settle down, which they soon did after Dean yelled for them too. "Dean, I am one of the doctors that's taking care of your girlfriend," she started knowing that he already knew that. "And I came to say that she is pretty bad condition but she's stable at the moment. She did receive some major burns to her left leg and to her right arm, so we are taking her up to the burn unit to get them taken care of," she told him. She paused for a few minutes so that Dean could take everything in. She also noticed that a wave of relief that came over Dean, though he still had a bit of worry and fear in his eyes and on his face.

That was when she realized that she needed to continue before the questions came, although when she was finished, she knew that there would be questions anyway. "Now we do have her on a ventilator to help her breathe," she told him. "We are planning to put her in a medically induced coma while she is healing in the burn unit. It will also help us monitor a little bit better, while we run some more tests," she told him. "Now I don't want you to worry because she's in the best care with the best doctors at the best hospital in Seattle," she told him and once again she saw a wave of relieve come over him. Then she placed her hand on his arm as she continued with her thought, knowing this was what he really was wanting to know most of all. "Yes, I will take you to see her for a few minutes before we take her up to the burn unit. So, if you would follow me, we can go now," she told Dean as she turned to walk back to the room Laura was in. Dean was following Miranda close behind her.

Re: The Miller Christmas Party Gone Hot

from Laura_Cartwright on 01/03/2026 07:50 AM

Laura stood there for a while, listening to Dean talk about everything he wanted to do. And not only did it shock her, but it surprised her as well. Though she would never tell Dean this, she had always wanted to have a little Christmas party with a few friends and maybe some family members. She didn't want anything too big, because she hated to clean up, plus she knew that Dean hated having a messy home. They stood there for a few minutes more looking at each other as Dean bent over and picked up Prue as he waited for Laura to say something. Finally, Laura let out a sigh as she began speaking to him. "Are you sure you want to have a Christmas Party?" she asked him. "Because you know you're mom and dad will want to come and I am not sure I can handle them right now," she told him. Then Laura went silent again as she went deep in thought about everything he had just said. Yeah she knew he was being a bit insensitive at the moment about the fact that she didn't have any family, but then again, she did have family. She had Dean and Prue and that was good enough for her.

Laura then began to speak again as she reached up and softly touched Dean's face. "First off, don't worry about me not having a family because I do have a family," she said happily. "And that family is you and Prue," she told him as she smiled at him and then watched him softly smile at her. "So, what I'm saying is if you want to invite your mom, dad and sister plus a few of the guys from the station house over for a Christmas party, then I'm fine with it," she said with a chuckle. "But in the meantime, I think your idea of taking Prue to see Santa is a good idea," she said with a huge smile. Then she asked Prue if that was what she would like and Prue got excited. Then as Dean, who was still carrying Prue, and Laura was walking towards Santa's Village, Laura began to speak again, this time it had to do with hot chocolate. "I also think your idea of getting us some hot chocolate and maybe a sugar cookie or two because you can't have hot chocolate without a sugar cookie," she said with a lovable chuckle as she wrapped her arm around his and laid her head on his shoulder, letting out a content sigh.

Laura, who was now in the back of the ambulance. Her eyesight was blurred but she could still make out who was riding with her, which just happened to be Ben Warren. As they kept checking her vitals and making sure that she was still stable. She couldn't speak because she had a tube down her throat, but a few tears fell from her eyes as they met up with Ben's. Laura reached her burnt hand out for his and Ben had no problem taking Laura's hand to hold. Ben began to speak to Laura gently and softly as if he was talking to Miranda. Ben kept telling Laura to be strong and that they would be at the hospital soon. Laura shakenly nodded as she listened to everything that Ben was telling her. About ten minutes later, the ambulance was pulling into the emergency room entrance, where Miranda, along with the others were waiting.

Once the ambulance had come to a complete stop and Ben opened the door, he stepped out and started telling Miranda and Owen, who were standing right beside Miranda, that it was Laura Cartwright, Dean's girlfriend, just as they were getting her out of the ambulance. Miranda started to ask about Dean and Ben said he should be rolling in at any moment, which Dean was parking the car as they were wheeling Laura into trauma room one before taking her up to the burn unit. Dean, on the other hand, parked his car and then rushed inside only to see Laura being taken into the room with Owen and other people. Dean started to rush over towards her, but Miranda stopped him and began to speak to him softly, knowing that he was on edge. But finally Miranda got through to Dean and soon, along with Ben, Vic and a few others from Station-19, Dean was sitting in the waiting room, silently praying that Laura wasn't burnt or hurt too bad.

As Dean was keeping busy helping Ben get everything ready for the survivers to come out, Vic and a few of the others were suiting up to go in. Dean and Ben were ready and Vic, Andy and others were ready, things then began to happen. Dean and Ben both watched Vic, Andy and a couple of the others, including Andy's father, who was the chief, began to bust through the door of the burning building. It took them less than 10 minutes to get into the building. And as the chief and Andy and one of the others began moving a hose inside to kill the flames, Vic and others began to look for Laura and the rest of her co-works.

It only took a few minute before Vic and a couple of other firefighters found Laura and her group, laying as flat as they could get. They were all passed out, though still breathing and Vic knew that if they waited any longerr, these people would be dead. So, slowly but still moving as quickly as they possibly could, Vic and some of the others began to move each and very person out of the building, while Andy and her dad continued to fight the fire from the inside. Once everyone else was out, which was Laura's decision as she was fading into unconiousness, Vic and Andy began to help get Laura out while Jack, Travis and Pruitt continued to fight the fire.

Laura, along with the other 5 co-workers were all huddled into the corner, trying to protect themselve, when she barely saw the fire truck out the window. She told her co-workers, who was starting to cough from the smoke they were inhaling. And a couple of them were even starting to get lightheaded and lose focus as their eyes were getting heavier and heavier. She was trying to keep them awake as the sprinklers, which had finally switched on, began to at least keep them wet and  safe, even waking up the two that was almost to the point of passing out.Laura continued to pray as the station 19 crew was outside, hooking up the hoses to the fire hydrents as they were getting ready to go after the fire.

Laura was looking around to make sure there was no other way out, which she found no other way, as the building was slowly collapsing around theim. It was about that time that the crew of Station 19 began shooting the hoses at the high flames. Soon, they had the fire under control for Vic and a few others to go get the rest of the workers, including Laura. It took Vic and the others just a few minutes to get inside and chop away the burning office supplies that was blocking Laura and others from getting out. When Vic and the others finally reached the group, they began to take them out one at a time, until everyone was safe and laying on the ground.

Laura was just saving all the work she had done when she started to smell smoke. After she didn't see no flames, but it wasn't until she heard the fire alarms going off that she could see an orangish/redish glow coming from the hallway of her building. Laura got up and went to see what was going on when she realized that there was a very hot and roaring fire burning up and making it's sway to her section of the building and it was coming fast. She knew that some had already made it outside so someone had to be on the phone with 911.Meanwhile, Laura was trying to figure out how to get herself and the rest of her co-works out, since not only was the door too hot to use, but it was now becoming blocked with hot, burning wood.

Laura stood watching for a few minutes more before she turned and looked at the rest of her co-workers that she was trapped with. She had to figure out how to get them and herself out of that office before they all burned up.And in the back of her mind, she knew when they all got out, the first thing she was going to do was tell Dean Miller just how much she really did love him and Prue and that if he was ready, she would gladly marry him tomorrow. Laura shook those thoughts off and quickly snapped back into reality as she began to desperately looking around to see if she couldn't find them a way out. But just as she was figuring a way out, the ceiling, which was now on fire, collapsed and cut her off from the rest of the group.

Laura was at work trying to get her work done, but all she kept thinking about was Dean and Prue. She knew his family was pushing for them to get married, even though they were holdling off until they were both ready. And in all honesty, Laura knew that they were both ready, but the more that Dean's parents pushed, the longer she knew Dean was waiting to ask her. Plus his mom was always trying to but in on everything Laura was trying to do as a mom to nurture Prue was driving her up the wall. But still, she loved her life with Dean and Prue and whether or not her and Dean got married, though she had a feeling deep down that Dean was hinting at a purposal soon. But she wasn't exactly sure when or where he would ask, or even if he would ask.

Anyway, Laura was trying to work when the thought of hers and Dean's first year anniversary was creeping up on them. And she didn't know if Dean or even his parents were planning anything special, but she knew she wanted to do something special to show the world just how much she loved Dean. As she continued to work, slowly getting through her paperwork, ideas started coming to her head. The first thing she needed to do was plan out the exact meal she wanted to make for Dean and Prue, though she knew that she also wanted to make her and Dean a romantic dinner one night while Prue was at her grandparents house. Anyway, dinner ideas were coming non-stop and Laura couldn't help but smile as she knew she would have to write them all down during her lunch break, which was coming up very shortly.
